What happened
Heads up from the AI POS side. On October 15, 2026 CDE Solutions, a Georgia processor that says it serves more than 25,000 retailers, launched CHEXIT AI Powered by Bodega AI POS. Retail Insight Network covered it the next day. The product pairs Bodega AI's retail software, automated scanning, inventory tracking and recommendations, with CDE's payment acceptance, including credit, debit and EBT SNAP.
Bodega AI says it's in more than 1,500 stores doing over $1 billion a year. Those are the company's numbers, not ours. And full disclosure: we install and support Bodega AI for bodegas and delis in New York, so we have a stake in this story. We're writing it because of what the software does at the shelf, not because of the deal.
What it means for you
Say you've got three aisles and a back room. Every reorder is you standing in the aisle trying to remember what moved last week, and the slow movers sit there until they expire.
The 3,000 products and the 100 that pay the rent are made up numbers, but the shape isn't. Your register has already written down every sale you've ever made. What it usually doesn't do is hand you a reorder list, a list of what to drop, and the margin on each item. So that work ends up in a spreadsheet at midnight, or nowhere.
If it were my counter
I'd ask the register three things before I asked a rep anything:
1. What sold fastest this month. 2. What hasn't moved in 60 days. 3. Which ten items carry the most margin.
If the answers come back in a tap, I'd write the next order from them and decide what leaves the shelf. If they take a report I'd have to build myself, that's the gap this kind of software is closing, and that's the part worth asking about, whoever you ask.
